I've had this drink two times in a row this past long weekend. The whole house is just craving for pearl milk teas, it seems. Chew loudly, Sip Mightily. Order a big one (at P100) and Say Ahhh...
For both times, it was always TeaTap's Formosa 50%. I like it for the milky taste and moderate sweetness.
Have you noticed that new milk tea shops have suddenly mushroomed in the Wilson area? There's Bubble Tea, Serenitea, Share Tea, TeaTap and Chatime at the moment and they're all a walking distance from each other. One small size at around P90 is super pricey in Manila nowadays. I used to enjoy the same yummy drink in China for only 3 to 5RMB (21 to 35 pesos) around five years ago and it would be served cold in summertime and hot in wintertime. Business is good and there is a demand for pearl milk teas in Manila. I'm a fan of the plain, non-complicated ones though and always with the chewy bubbles over the fancy puddings and all.
My Favorite: Royal Milk Tea, Strawberry Milk Tea and HoneyDew Melon Milk Tea
