J and I were invited to watch the Taylor Dayne & Edwin McCain concert at the new SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. Here's a few things that I want to say about the location and seating of the newest in-thing concert hall in Manila.

Sunrise Buckets at The Grove Rockwell, Buffalo Wings!
We found ourselves at The Grove Rockwell one night near Tiendesitas and found out that Sunrise Buckets had just opened another branch. I am guessing that this small area with restaurants will turn out to be another cool hangout place in Manila. It's nice and quiet since The Grove is being developed by Rockwell Land as a residential enclave - somewhere you can escape but still close to the Tiendesitas, Eastwood, Ateneo and the Medical City. It's a good thing that the part where there is good food is open to the public.

Zenbook UX31 Asus in Hot Pink, More Colorful PCs this Summer!
Summer has just started in Manila and it will go all the way to the end of May or early June. Asus Philippines has just unveiled its most colorful PCs this April! The most notable of which is the Zenbook UX31 in Hot Pink! Let me tell you why from a not-so-geeky point of view.

Marriott Manila Knows How to Party
This month, we partied with Marriott Manila as they welcome their New GM Mr. Scott Sibley. This is the first time we stayed in an event that long and most of the credit goes to the lovely food and entertainment brought in from Bar 360 of (Marriott Manila neighbor) Resorts World Manila.

Aysee Greenhills Sisig
I don't eat innards and the like. Except for Sisig. Some types of Sisig. Jeff introduced me to sisig through Aysee many years back in Pasig. I have never forgotten that first sizzling plate of sisig and the buttery flavor with hot sauce, soy sauce and calamansi. In my opinion, it's the best sisig in Manila. It is now in Greenhills and it's just a few minutes away!

Bizu Macaroons Menu Picks
I missed this year's International Macaron Day Manila by one day! You know about my love affair with Bizu Macaroons, right? There were a lot of unfamiliar flavors in the Bizu Macaroon selection during that ordinary day. Care for some White Truffle, Blue Cheese or Thai Peanut Macaroons?! Without my usual Pistachio, I decided to get those, 2 Vanillas, Mint, Raspberry, and Blueberry to complete my Bizu Box of 8.

Yoshinoya Philippines New Menu Picks!
There are 8 new Yoshinoya dishes in Manila for all fans out there! I missed Yoshinoya in my recent Japan trip but it's okay. Haha. I'm not sure if I can get my Yoshinoya Yakiniku Beef quick fix there anyway. I just found another Yoshinoya winner. I don't eat chicken very much but I like the Tokyo Chicken!

Photography School in Manila for Beginners
I was around seven when I received a yellow Snoopy camera for my birthday and it was one of the happiest days of my life because I believed I was good at photographing. My childhood notion came with undeniable proof - in my mind, I was the designated one during family events and I held my dad's camera the most. Then as I grew up, the bubble burst. I was at a loss when J gave me my GF1 and I would cringe at the mention of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, metering and many other foreign words. An opportunity came along for a short course on Basic Photography with Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology (CIIT) in Quezon City. I knew that if I learn a thing or two and practice A LOT, I could actually produce pictures that tell stories.

Unlimited Chocolate Buffet in Manila!
Drool, drool, drool... Drooling while making this post. You can find Belgian chocolate clusters, chocolate truffles, chocolate cakes, chocolate fondue, a chocolate painting and a chocolate chef in a place called The Chocolate Room in Marriott Cafe. You'll find this and more included at the Marriott Hotel Manila Sunday Brunch!

The Marriott Hotel Manila Sunday Brunch
Tomorrow is Sunday and it is mostly reserved for foodie adventures and spending some time with the family. Our favorite buffet place is at Sofitel Spiral but it is currently closed down for renovations. It's very timely that the Marriott Hotel Sunday Brunch came along. It is nearer to our location and I can say that the Marriott Cafe buffet selection was good and extensive. People go gaga over their Chocolate Room and drinks are already included (ehem, cocktails are available at the minibar *wink!).

Radio Frequency Treatment and Mariko Jet Peel
I went to the Mariko Skin & Body Center a few weeks ago to try out their treatments. Their tag line Hindi Mahal Magpaganda was quite enticing to me and one of their branches happened to be in the Greenhills area.

Mercato Schedule Extended!
If you get hungry on a weeknight, where would you go? I get a high whenever it is a Friday or a weekend because I know there's Mercato Centrale, Midnight Mercato, Banchetto, Saturday markets like the Legaspi Market and other Sunday markets and they have been sprouting one by one in the metro. I was hoping they would cover some more weeknights so that I won't have to wait that long. Haha. Fortunately, they want to change the night scene in Manila for foodies like me and hungry after-party gimmickeros.

Happiness is Charlie Brown and Snoopy in Manila!
I've grown to love Snoopy because of J. I went all the way to Knott's Berry Farm in the US and Snoopy World in Hong Kong in the last few years. With the news of Charles M. Schulz' passing last 2000, I thought that would be the end of Peanuts. Apparently not. This time around, Snoopy, along with Charlie Brown and his friends, were brought to life in Manila through 9 Works Theatrical. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is an off-Broadway musical hit in America.

Two drinks will set this post apart from everything you've heard about me and the bubble tea craze in Manila. The one thing they have in common is Gluteany.

Craving for Couscous of Cafe Provencal Shangrila
I knew I had to try couscous the first time I saw people eating it in Morocco on television. That was one of the many reasons why Morocco is on the top of my list. J unknowingly ordered couscous in Manila. I didn't notice it - the lamb chop was all I remember on the Cafe Provencal menu. Was I wrong? My heart says it was couscous. Take a closer look for me, will you?

French Baker Danish Butter Cookies
I've been munching on these critters from a glass jar for a few days now. Hehehe. The French Baker Philippines made these pure Danish butter cookies with Magnolia Pure & Creamy Butter. Gosh, I've been skimming supermarket aisles for years to get decent Danish butter cookies.

Old Oven Art Cafe, a Late-Night Foodie Find in Katipunan
It was 10 p.m. and we were headed to Katipunan with our half-filled bellies for a late-night snack. Of course, my primary concern was the time and I wanted a quiet place to recuperate from a long and tiring day. I saw a sign that read Old Oven Art Cafe and I told J to turn back because I made my choice. Hehehe. I didn't know if it was good but it was open and it was an art cafe!

Lugang Cafe Bellagio Manila is Not Just a Dessert Place
I went to eat at Lugang once in December for a super filling and different set-menu meal ("panto" in Chinese) and once this January for a snack slash dinner break. It is a welcomed break from the usual Gloria Maris, Choi Garden, Golden Bay and other Chinese family restaurants in Manila today. As I have said when I first featured Lugang when it opened in Manila, my first taste ever of this restaurant was in Beijing as Bellagio and it was known for desserts there.

Pao Pao's Taro Milk and Spicy Squid
I've written about the rise of Pearl Milk Teas in Manila in one of my previous posts. Sometimes though, it would often come out as a complaint that they don't have Taro in their menus. During those cravings, I would often go back to a cheaper and caffeine-free Quickly.
I've heard about Pao Pao Xiao Chi from my younger sister and she would often say that they're more like the once-famous high school/bagets snack food place Ersao with their "de-tusok na" Spicy Squid, Spicy Chicken and Spicy Pork.

Haids and The Lone Rider
I heard before dinner tonight that my sister's friend Haidee has just passed away so suddenly. Although we were not close, my last memory of her was that she came to our house with all smiles as I was going out and asked me how I was. Thank you, Haids, for that and for being my sister's friend in all of those years. I know you've touched lives in OCCI and you've touched mine tonight. I found TheLoneRider's blog tonight because of a wonderful comment about life that you made almost three years ago. I will put here what you put there. I too have been afraid to act for a few months now. Thank you for inspiring me. I choose to stay true to myself and share myself to the world.
Haid's comment from a thought-provoking post of The Lone Rider:

A Cappella in Manila
I went shopping without J at the Shang last Saturday and quickly got impatient over where else to go when I've already found what I wanted to buy in the Rustan's sale. Rather than act on impulse, do a shopping spree and abuse my tired feet, however, I found myself pausing, pulling up a chair and listening to A Cappella music in Manila.
Yedang, Korean Restaurant in Manila
If you're looking for a Korean quick fix in Manila, go to Yedang in Meralco Avenue, Ortigas near Metrowalk. J and I have been going there for years, read all about the Korean craze here. This post is about our first Korean encounter for the year and a few things I have to say about their current food selection.

DIY Family Lunch Menu in Manila! / Also Lunch and Dinner Suggestions in Manila!
If you're planning a lunch or dinner for the family and you don't know where to start, maybe this can help you. You don't have to know how to cook to do this and it is quite a deviation from our Aubergine Christmas lunch last year. You just have to be in Manila to put this DIY Lunch/Dinner all together like my sister did for Christmas =)
