J and I were invited to watch the Taylor Dayne & Edwin McCain concert at the new SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. Here's a few things that I want to say about the location and seating of the newest in-thing concert hall in Manila.
We parked at the massive parking building (also new and connected) next to the MOA Arena. We had to go down to the main outside entrance. The ticket readers were impressive (they just scan the bar code/QR code in the ticket and the door would open). But get this, there is a no reentry policy and we felt trapped because we were planning to check out the place first then come back. We were stuck with hotdogs, burgers, Krispy Kreme, popcorn, Starbucks or beer inside for dinner. =(
We had free-seating lower box tickets (for this show) and it was definitely better than watching shows in the MOA parking lot like before.
The seats were cushioned, everything was roofed and the acoustics were just wonderful (again unlike the old setup outdoors). Big cameras were also not allowed inside, by the way.
The Edwin McCain show was mellow and we sang "I'll Be" with Edwin McCain. Jay-R was there too for the half time. We were very surprised that we knew the songs of Taylor Dayne, particularly "Love Will Lead You Back"! I think her voice is very unique, powerful, whole and very different from our singers today. I do wish she could have sang a lot more love songs than disco.
We ended the night with eating kebab in Katipunan =)
